Lori and Michael in front of Hubbard Glacier, Alaska
Lori and I celebrated our 42nd wedding anniversary with a trip to Alaska, followed by a reunion with Lori’s siblings and cousins in Oregon. It was a fitting way to celebrate over 4 decades of sticking with each other through better and worse conditions, through sickness and health, through many phases of ministry. We look forward to many more years together. It is a great adventure with God!

While on vacation, I tried not to do my regular work. I failed. There were some complicated networking problems that caused parts of our Bible web sites to not be available, followed by a surge in demand that overloaded our servers, causing repeating short outages of whole sites. I’ll spare you the technical details, but if it were easy to figure out, the two AI models I queried could have solved it. They didn’t, but they helped a little. I learned a lot, and with God’s help, I got all sites back online. I still have more work to do to make them more reliable under heavy loads, but I know what to do. It will cost a little more, but viral digital Bible distribution is still the most cost effective way to reach multitudes with God’s Word. Speaking of AI, the picture above isn’t AI manipulated or even conventionally edited other than to resize it to fit in this prayer letter. Lori and I were standing in front of a very nice whale statue and fountain in Mayor Overstreet Park, Juneau, Alaska.
Thank God that
- Hurricane Lowell didn’t disrupt our Bible web sites.
- I was able to correct several Bible server problems remotely.
- We logged over 663 Million Scripture deliveries in 1,542 translations! That is 5 million more deliveries than last prayer letter. (It may be more, because my log entry counter is currently bogged down with extra work.)
- We have awesome prayer and financial partners making our ministry to the world possible.
- God’s Word never returns to Him without doing what He sent it to do. (Isaiah 55:11)
Prayer Requests
- Wisdom and insight into how to prepare all of our Bible sites to better withstand both severe weather. (Tropical storm Norbert is currently approaching Hawaii).
- Wisdom as to how best to increase server capacity to automatically meet surges in demand like the one going on now.
- Wise balancing of competing time demands.
- Supernatural productivity for me and our volunteers.
- Wisdom to know which projects to take on, and which ones are best left for someone else.
How can we pray for you, today?
