Extravagant Gifts

Like Mary, the sister of Lazarus and Martha, I love Jesus and want to give him my best gifts. I want everything I do for Him to be first rate, as I’m sure you do too. I am working on improving the appearance and readability of our Bible web sites. Hopefully, better looking sites will attract more of the people who need to read the Bible. Here are some of the things I did last week:

  • Improved the styling on simple HTML Bible files to handle poetry better and to be easier to read. I did this for all 1,543 Bible translations on all of our Bible web sites..
  • Added tags to the simple HTML Bible files to improve search engine optimization so people can find the Bibles easier.
  • Corrected some styling inconsistency between pages on PNG.Bible.
  • Mitigated a serious vulnerability in software that our web sites rely on (PHP).
  • Worked on technical infrastructure to improve Bible site reaction time and reliability. You can see some improvements graphically at stats.eBible.org.

Thank you for helping us make this work possible with your prayers and your support!

Let each man give according as he has determined in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. —2 Corinthians 9:7 World English Bible

Check out the context of this verse in 2 Corintthians 9:6-11. God’s blessings are great!

Thank God that

  • We updated our Bible web sites fast enough to avoid a “php2shell” cyber attack. We did that with minimal down time for our Bible web sites (and no down time at all for eBible.org).
  • We have distributed more than 707 million Scriptures from our Bible web sites. That is 21 million more than last week.
  • Unlike in August and September, eBible.org stayed solidly online in spite of significant demand surges. The upgrades are working.
  • We have awesome prayer and financial partners making our ministry to the world possible.
  • God’s Word never returns to Him without doing what He sent it to do. (Isaiah 55:11)

Prayer Requests

  • That I would be able to efficiently finish eBible.org front page beautification and audio web page index generation.
  • Pray for Lori for effective ministry with Onipa’a, her part-time “retirement” job, teaching sexual risk avoidance to youth.
  • Pray for provision, protection, health, and wisdom for all who volunteer their time working on Bible translation, Bible study software, and Bible web sites.
  • Wise balancing of competing time demands.

How can we pray for you, today?
