The above picture is of a printed copy of the World English Bible Updated edition, Old and New Testaments, with 10 point type and maps, as available from Broken Yoke Publishing. The various editions and additional print options are explained at the WorldEnglish.Bible web site. There are also pointers to free digital editions.
IIf you are reading this, you are blessed to be one of the people in the world that has some of the best access in the world to the Holy Bible. You have a choice of many good Bible translations in your language, available in a variety of affordable (and often free) formats. The good news is that a complete Bible translation (all 66 books of the Old and New Testaments) exists in 776 out of about 7159 languages in the world. While that is about 10.8% of the world’s languages, those cover more than 80% of the people. Add the languages where a New Testament or smaller portion exists (sometimes as small as a Christmas story), and almost 99% of the world’s population has some Scripture in existence. This is great news to be thanking God for!
On the other hand, we know that God also longs for His Word to reach everyone in the remaining small language groups. And, of course, just because a Bible translation exists doesn’t mean that is accessible to all who speak a particular language. We keep working to see Bible poverty go to zero by providing free online access to the Holy Bible and encouraging Bible translation where we can. We thank God for you who support us with prayer and finances. May God bless all of you!
Lori and I had just showed these people on Manus Island how to load Bishop free Bible study software onto their smart phones. Bishop: The Sword Project allows them to download Bible translations in all three languages that these people speak and display them in parallel, even when they go offline due to the mobile phone service going down (which is often, there), moving out of range of the signal (it is very mountainous), or if their data credit runs out.
