Going to Manus and Suva

Our last selfie with Jerry Pfaff

This is our last selfie with Jerry Pfaff.

Lori and I are planning to do something a little different than our usual mission work. We plan to go to Manus Island in Papua New Guinea to help Sue Pfaff with her Bible translation work towards the end of September. In 2021, when Jerry passed away suddenly, Jerry and Sue had completed half of the Nali language New Testament. Sue and the local Bible translation team on Manus Island continue to work on translating the Holy Bible into the Nali language. We plan to go there to encourage her and to provide some practical help. Lori plans to do some health-related teaching in Sue’s village. I plan to teach Sue and her team some of the finer points of using Paratext software to check their work and improve the quality of their Bible translation. Conditions are rather primitive in Sue’s village, compared to what almost all of you take for granted. It would mean a lot to Sue to be encouraged by friends at such a remote location, especially after the many trials that she endured on her last trip to this village.

On the way back from Manus, we plan to attend the South Pacific Bible Forum meetings in Suva, Fiji in October. That will be a great opportunity to renew and strengthen relationships with leaders of various Bible translation ministries in the South Pacific area.

The combined cost of both parts of this trip, including air fare, hotels, conference fees, etc., will be about $8,000. The value of the people’s lives touched with the Word of God and a greatly encouraged missionary friend who needs it: priceless.

Please Keep Praying

Thank God for:

  • We now have over 496 million deliveries in 1,518 Bible translations (49 more Bible translations than last prayer letter) on eBible.org and related sites!
  • We caught up with Scripture updates and additions from the Digital Bible Library.
  • Our prayer partners! The spiritual warfare is real, but it is great to be on the winning side!
  • Resources to do whatever God calls us to do.

Please keep praying for the following aspects of our ministry:

  • Planning our next mission trip to Papua New Guinea (to help the Nali translation team) and Fiji (for the South Pacific Bible Forum) in September and October.
  • That our servers will keep running reliably while I have limited Internet access.
  • Web site upgrades for eBible.org, Solomons.Bible, and Baebol.org
  • Wisdom protecting our computers and servers from hacker attacks
  • Bible study app development
  • Bible translation consulting
  • Bible translation processing for posting on eBible.org and sister sites.

How can we pray for you, today?

May God bless you!
