Making Hard Things Look Easy

“Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Most of the time, we make serving up Bibles world-wide look easy. Sometimes, not so much. On February 19th, 2025, the eBible.org server crashed hard. I administer that machine remotely, as it is in a data center more than 4,000 miles from my house. It stopped responding to all commands. I tried allocating a new server, and restoring it from its regular backup. That failed. So, I rebuilt it using new hardware from the backup on my computer at home. That worked, but it was slow. It took 4 days to transfer all of the data necessary to restore the server at the fastest upload speed my cable Internet connection can support. I’m going to be implementing a way to recover faster if this happens again. 4 days seems to me to be too long to have some Bibles unavailable.

For we are not as so many, peddling the word of God. But as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God, we speak in Christ.--2 Corinthians 2:17 (WEB)

Please Keep Praying

Thank God that:

Please pray for the following aspects of our ministry:

  • Wisdom improving the way we back up and recover servers so that down time can be reduced in case of hardware failure
  • Improving the automation of imports from the Digital Bible Library
  • App development
  • Web site upgrades
  • Computer security
  • Bible translation consulting
  • Bible translation processing for posting on eBible.org and sister sites

Please pray for our family:

  • Michael to be healed quickly from a flu (that he probably got from getting too little sleep while recovering the eBible.org server)
  • Comfort, love, and unity in our family as Michael’s Mom’s will is executed
  • Smooth recovery from storm damage to our house
  • All of us to stay healthy

How can we pray for you, today?
