Papua New Guinea Flashback

Our old Toyota Hilux pickup truck on the PNG Highlands Highway during our first field term there.

Leg-stretching stop along the Highlands Highway during our first field term in Papua New Guinea. Ben, Nate, and Evan are in the back, while Lori is walking back to check on friends in the next vehicle in our convoy. Sometimes I think back to the years we spent living in Papua New Guinea. It was sometimes great fun. Often it was challenging. Sometimes it was dangerous. But it was where the Lord wanted us at that time, so it was the best place to be. Sometimes missionaries don’t get much of a chance to see fruit from their work, but God has blessed us with many ways of knowing that we made a positive impact then, and are still making a positive impact for the Lord among the people of that linguistically diverse nation. Lori invested into the lives of many students, both missionary kids and locals, as a teacher. I helped support Bible translation work in several different ways, including software development for SIL Aviation. I’m happy that we are still investing in God’s Work in Papua New Guinea with the PNG.Bible web site. Lori and I are also looking forward to going there in person in September to help Sue Pfaff with her Nali Bible translation and with some health training.

Part of the Highlands Highway in Papua New Guinea

Part of the Highlands Highway in Papua New Guinea. Much of this highway is not paved. When it rains (which is often) four wheel drive is very good to have. It is also good to travel in convoys to have help in case of a breakdown and to be less of a target for robbery.

Please Keep Praying

Thank God for:

  • Our prayer partners! The spiritual warfare is real, but it is great to be on the winning side!
  • Resources to do whatever God calls us to do. Thank God for both those who give for our regular support and those who have given towards our next mission trip. Our next mission trip is 75% covered. Our regular support is at 77% of budget.

Please keep praying for the following aspects of our ministry:

  • Planning our next mission trip to Papua New Guinea (to help the Nali translation team on Manus Island) and Fiji (for the South Pacific Bible Forum) in September and October.
  • More monthly financial partners to cheerfully join us in funding our ministry.
  • That our servers will keep running reliably while I have limited Internet access.
  • Web site upgrades for eBible.org, Solomons.Bible, and Baebol.org
  • Bible study app development

How can we pray for you, today?

May God bless you!
Michael & Lori Johnson
